Mini Moon Jar, Flower Cut Outs
☽ Hand-thrown out of porcelain clay on the pottery wheel, trimmed, and refined with a delicate foot.
☽ Surface designed using a technique called Mishima, where each flower design was incised into the clay at the leather-hard stage, filled with cobalt slip, and carefully scraped back to reveal clean lines.
☽ This piece is fired to cone 10 (2,350°F) with a clear glaze to show the design underneath. While the clay is fully vitrified, due to the nature of the carvings and cut outs, it is not designed to hold water.
★ Dimensions: Approx. 5” H x 5” W (At widest point)
★ Opening Diameter: 2.5”
★ Care: Hand washing is recommended
★ Wood pedestal shown for styling purposes only and is not included in purchase
☾ Throwing porcelain on the wheel requires a highly meditative, precise kind of patience. As a moon lover (shout out to all the cancer risings), I’ve always been drawn to the classic Moon Jar form. It’s an individual study in balance, soft curves, and the quiet beauty of a clean porcelain clay body. From the initial wedging and wheel-throwing to the final glaze firing, this piece was crafted entirely by my hands in my studio.
